DECLARING WHO ARE BLESSED

We noticed in this passage that these words were spoken by the Lord Jesus himself. Since Jesus has a true estimation of peoples lives, He has the right to give authoritative judgement. In doing so, He can declare who are blessed in life. This passage of scripture is known as he Sermon on the Mount.

THE ATTITUDE THAT BRINGS KINGDOM BLESSINGS

I can say as a Pastor, I want to see my people blessed. A major part of God’s blessings is found in this passage right here, which is known as the “Sermon on the Mount.” This teaching covers Chapters 5, 6, and 7 of Matthews gospel. In this chapter He focuses on the word “Blessed.” This word is found 9 times in the first 12 verses of this chapter.

KINGDOM IS COMING

Most of us are familiar with the part of the Lord’s prayer where Jesus taught us to pray “Thy Kingdom Come.”Since we are to pray that prayer, does that mean the kingdom is not here yet? Well, no and yes. The Spiritual aspect of the kingdom is here now. For those who have accepted Christ the rule of the King has started in our life. So spiritually speaking we are in the kingdom now.

Scripture Reference: Luke 19:11-27 NKJV
“And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”

KINGDOMS IN CONFLICT

We are a part of the Kingdom of God. We entered the Kingdom when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior.
As believers we must…
1) Choose to make him king of our lives.
2) We must also realize that there is another kingdom. A kingdom that is diabolically opposed to the kingdom of God.

“And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. So it was, when the demon had gone out, that the mute spoke; and the multitudes marveled. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.” Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven.
But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls. If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? Because you say I cast out demons by Beelzebub. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges. But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
