The Feast of Pentecost

The Feast of Pentecost is sometimes called the Feast of Weeks. Verse 15-16: “And you shall count unto you from the morrow of the Sabbath, from the sheaf of the wave offering, seven sabbaths shall be complete. The wave offering represented the first fruits of the harvest. Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall you number 50 days.” This is where we get the Pentecost, which simply means 50th.

The Sound of the Trumpets

The Feast of Trumpets is also known as Rosh-Hashanah, meaning “Head of the Year.” This day took place on the 1st day of the seventh month on the Jewish calendar. The Feast of Trumpet was a day marked by assembling. God wanted his people to assemble even in the Old Testament. It was a day when the people refrained from regular work. It was a day of holy convocation, commemorated by blowing of the trumpets.
